Potager Mont-Rouge Halte Gourmande

You can find several fruits and vegetables to pick on your own in our fields, or homemade roducts that are ready to buy in our boutique. This agricultural site was acquired by the family business Le Potager Mont-Rouge in 2016. From then on, it was decided that this would be the succession of the horticultural enterprise, which develops its own agricultural niche. Consequently, this acquisition allowed our experience in the field and our customer service to become more concrete and, furthermore, more beneficial to our clients. All in all, Le Potager Mont-Rouge Halte Gourmande satisfies our needs.

At the Potager Mont-Rouge Halte Gourmande vegetable garden, much of our energy is deployed for the protection of our environment as well as our production, whether it is through the use of trichograms for the corn, green fertilizer, direct seeding, grassed aisles, protected shorelines, or recyclable packaging. We are proud to actively participate in the protection of our environment. We do this all while guaranteeing healthy fruits and vegetables of premium quality.

We cultivate our land with the thinking of borrowing it from the next generations. In that minding, we take care of it and use raisoned agricultural practices. As an example, to limit land erosion and have a better percolation of surface water, we have grass in between production aisles. Also, the majority of our agriculture is made on a biodegradable plastic mulch. This mulch allows us to reduce the application of phytosanitary products. It also optimizes the use of water and nutriments. The biodegradable caracteristic reduces the time it lasts in nature.
For the winter squash, the semi-direct production on a mulch of rye allows a better utilization of ressources by the plants. It also reduces the number of phytosanitary treatments to its minimum. This natural reduce the soil erosion, increase the quality of the squash and diminish the quantity of squash waste in the field. For the sweet corn, we don’t use any insecticide against corn borer. Instead, we fight biologicaly by using trichogramma, a natural predator of the corn borer. Every bag of trichogramma is suspended, one at the time, at the top of the corns. Finaly, for the weekly screening and for agricultural prescriptions, Potager Mont-Rouge is supported by the agrienvironmental club of the region, Dura-Club.
